Ukrainian Court: $3.5 Million Bribe

Corruption Scandal, Ukrainian Court: $3.5 Million Bribe Attempt to Influence a Ukrainian Court. Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) has reported an attempted $3.5 million bribe aimed at influencing judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to issue a favorable ruling.

One of the Largest Corruption Cases of 2025

According to SAP, lawyers and a prosecutor from the General Prosecutor’s Office acted as intermediaries, negotiating with a suspect to close the case in exchange for the bribe. At the time of exposure, the intermediaries had already received $200,000.

Connection to the Burisma Case

The largest known bribery attempt before this was a $5 million offer in 2020 related to the Burisma case, which drew global attention due to alleged ties to then-U.S. President Joe Biden. However, no evidence of wrongdoing by Biden was ever found.

Anti-Corruption Agencies Under Pressure

The SAP and NABU continue their joint investigations despite recent efforts to place SAP under the control of the Prosecutor General. The agency remains independent and committed to transparency, especially in high-level corruption cases.
