Russian Oil – The Main Source of Russian Terrorism in Ukraine. Russian oil, purchased by China, India, Turkey, and other countries, does not simply sit in budgets. It turns into missiles, Shahed drones, and artillery that kill Ukrainian children, women, and elderly people every day. In 2025–2026, oil revenues (30–40% of Russia’s federal budget) directly fund the deadliest period for civilians since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Oil Billions Finance Mass Production of Shaheds and Missiles
Russia’s 2026 military budget exceeds $150 billion. A significant portion comes from oil and gas taxes. Analysts estimate that every $10 increase in the price per barrel adds approximately $1.6 billion per month to the treasury. These funds produce thousands of cheap kamikaze drones (one Shahed costs ~$30–50 thousand) and hundreds of missiles, compensating for the shortage of high-precision weapons.
2025 – The Bloodiest Year for Civilians in Ukraine
UN data (HRMMU) leaves no doubt:
| Year | Civilians Killed | Civilians Injured | Total Casualties | Change vs Previous Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 1,974 | 6,651 | ~8,625 | — |
| 2024 | 2,088 | 9,138 | ~11,226 | +30% |
| 2025 | 2,514 | 12,142 | ~14,656 | +31% (killed) |
Long-range strikes (missiles + drones) accounted for 35% of all casualties in 2025 — a 65% increase compared to 2024.
Drones and Missiles Paid for with Oil Erase Cities from the Map
Kharkiv (founded 1654), Odesa (1794), Chernihiv, Ternopil, Zaporizhzhia — cities with centuries of history are being systematically destroyed.
- Entire historic districts have been wiped out.
- Cultural heritage sites damaged or completely destroyed.
- In winter — multi-week blackouts causing people to die from cold.
These are not accidental hits — this is the result of mass production of cheap weapons that Russia uses when expensive precision missiles run out.
Direct Path: Oil → Shaheds → Death of Children and Families
Behind every nighttime drone swarm are funds from oil.
- Children die in their beds from strikes on residential areas.
- Mothers and entire families end up under the rubble of apartment buildings.
- Hospitals and schools are repeatedly hit, leaving thousands of wounded without proper care.
The most horrific attacks of 2025–2026: Ternopil (38 killed, including 8 children), Dnipro (21 killed, 314 injured, including 38 children), repeated strikes on Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy.
What Continued Russian Terrorism Will Lead To
If Russia continues turning oil revenues into weapons of mass civilian destruction, the consequences will be catastrophic and irreversible:
- Ukraine will need hundreds of billions to rebuild housing, hospitals, schools, and energy infrastructure.
- Demographic catastrophe — lost generations of children and young families.
- Erasure of cultural heritage — centuries of Ukrainian history turned to dust.
For Russia itself, this path leads to even deeper isolation, economic collapse under growing sanctions, and inevitable international accountability.
While foreign buyers continue purchasing Russian oil — Ukrainian blood flows in rivers. Ending or sharply reducing these purchases is the fastest way to stop the flow of weapons and bring real peace closer.
